Good morning. We just started our Overstock Seed Sale. Save up to 50% right now on seeds. Here is the link. David closed the Amazon store and for a lot of varieties, we have too many seeds now that the Amazon store is closed. It happened just in time for you to get your fall seeds on sale!

This morning, I pulled my loaf of sourdough out of the fridge and let it come to room temperature. Then I put it in the oven to bake and came out to feed the fish and kitten.

The bread turned out really good. I am going to try some other sourdough recipes this week because they say you can do a lot with the sourdough discard.

So tasty and fresh...

David took Sue Ellen to be groomed early this morning. It is now 4pm and they finally called to say she is ready for pick up. That is a very long time.

I have been counting seeds for most of the day and have just started to ship some orders out. Matt has been pulling orders and making envelopes. David has been doing all sorts of computer tasks. The work never ends.

After Sue Ellen got back from the groomer, she was only too happy to pose for a photo. She is so photogenic. The other two won't pose. They shaved her body but not her head. She is just so happy all of the time.

We grilled burgers for dinner and then I folded a bunch of laundry so now everyone has clothes and clean towels where they belong.

Tuesday, August 19, 2025 - Best Garden Seeds

It's been a long time since I've put up a sunrise photo. I took this as I let the dogs out to go potty this morning.

Good morning. I was awakened twice in the night with neuropathy so it was another really fun night.

George managed to jump out of the pen on Sunday and trot all around my orchard. Good thing he was hungry or he might not have come to me.

It promises to be another busy day of filling orders. I was almost caught up with them on Saturday. Then I took Sunday off...Yesterday, every time I closed an order, it seemed like two more would pop up so it looks like I did nothing the entire day except for the fact that there are a lot more seeds on shelves...

Lightly toasted, buttered sourdough, fried egg with cheese, and a maple flavored sausage patty make for a great McSourdough breakfast sandwich! Yum!

I just made sausage McSourdough sandwiches for breakfast. They are pretty tasty!

There is a loft in this shed where we kept tools and the riding lawn mower. It is just 5 years old.

I pulled a bunch of orders. At 10:30am, I decided to go to the house to look at the goats. Good thing I did. Four of them were out prancing around the orchard. Trixie (I have no idea how she fit through the tiny hole), George, Gracie, and Lucy were out and about. I found a tiny hold that they passed through.

Here is the tiny hole they escaped from. It is not as big as my head. I told David we need stronger fencing. They push on it every single day trying to get out.

I found Matt and we went out there. We lured them all back in with treats except for Trixie. She tried to get back in through the hole in the fence which is how I realized where they got out. She got stuck, then pulled herself out and galloped away. I stood at one corner and Matt was behind her so she finally ran into the pen. Then we had to get them all into the goat shelter until we put up a new fence.

The bad thing is the gate is taken down way in the back until the rest of the sheds are out so they could hit the open road and get mowed down by a sand truck. Right now, they are safe with clean water, food, and hay.

David had to take Trump to be groomed. I did not even know he was doing that but he just called me. Matt had to take a tire from the riding mower to be repaired. It just wouldn't hold air. Stickers are growing up all around from the two inches of rain we got last week at one time.

Turns out Trump's appointment for grooming is tomorrow so he is back at home.

Around 2pm, the clouds moved in and the thunder started. I went to the house and let the dogs go out for a potty break. I brought them back in, went back to work and the heavens opened. It is raining!

It rained for about 40 minutes or so. A few hours later, it got overcast again and there was thunder but no rain.

Wednesday, August 20, 2025 - Best Garden Seeds

Good morning. It was a long day. We have not had one in person customer all week. Today, two men stopped by to see if we sell seeds in bulk. We don't. They left.

David took Trump to be groomed. Matt went to pick him up. I have not yet seen the little guy yet so I need to go back to the house. Matt said he was all confused waiting in a big cage and that he was so happy to see Matt.

Trump is clean and looking handsome. Isn't he adorable?

The salmon was so good--golden brown on the outside, pink on the inside.

I made salmon for Gordon Ramsay night and it was delicious.

Thursday, August 21, 2025 - Best Garden Seeds

Good morning. David is getting ready to leave for a doctor appointment. I need to get dressed and pay some bills, then get to work.

I just watched a video about how the new female CEO of Cracker Barrel has ruined it. It used to be a fun place to eat but now they have gone woke and changing the menu. The old timey decor is gone and the good food is gone.

The logo no longer has the old man with the cracker barrel. The stocks are not doing well and they will probably be gone soon. You go woke, you go broke. What a shame. We always enjoyed going there for many years. The last time we went was in January near Rosenburg, Texas. The food was okay, but not great. We won't be returning unless and until the woke CEO is gone, the food and decor are back, and the woke nonsense is gone.

There were no in person customers again today but there were lots of orders.

All afternoon, it was overcast, threatening rain here while it did rain around us. We did not get one drop. It is now 7pm. The nice thing is that the air cooled dramatically and felt so nice.

We got up super early and left the farm at 6:15am to drive to the Walmart in Pleasanton. We had to get gas and then go to early appointments at Quest Lab in Walmart. Of course, there were standby people including a young boy. They called David S. and another man walked in and sat down. Then they called him again so my David went in. They told the other man he was the wrong one and made him leave until the 10am appointment he had just scheduled at the kiosk when he got there. A month ago, I made our appointments and we watched him walk in and make one.

Meanwhile, they called the boy whose father also had just made a standby appointment instead of calling me. That pissed me off because I was hungry and I made my appointment a month in advance. So I sat out there listening to this boy screaming his head off. David got to sit in the next room and have his blood drawn while hearing this kid up close and personal. The boy's father and big brother had to hold him down while they drew his blood.

David left and the kid and his family left and they finally called me in. The tech decided she could not find my vein on either arm so she finally said she would just have to go in and find it. It hurt like hell. No one has ever had a problem before getting blood out of my arm. She probed it around in there for quite a while before the pain stopped.

Whatever happened to appointments are served first and walk-ins are welcome but they have to wait? That is what the sign says in the lobby.

I finally got out of there and found the truck in the now light parking lot. We went to get breakfast and ate while driving home. Glad that is over.

We got back home and there were two strange vehicles in the parking lot. Apparently David hired two men from who knows where to do some yard work. They were pulling weeds when we drove in as Matt told them what to do.

Time to go open the store and get orders going.

This red cardinal and his mate are frequent visitors around our farm. I seldom get the chance to get a good photo. He is inside the shade cloth here.

Another day...I went to the couch at 4:50am as I couldn't breathe. Sitting up fixed the problem and I soon fell asleep. Sue Ellen decided at 6am to lay on me so that I would pet her even though I was in the middle of a dream. I had to get up and then I was starving so here I am waiting for the coffee to be done.

I got all of the animals fed and watered. I did the goats last and I got locked into the goat shelter. It took me quite a while to stretch my hand out one of the holes and pull up the lock piece. It just wouldn't come up. Matt was not here so I could not call him for help. I just kept trying and finally I got out.

Matt left the old fence up and put the new, stronger fence up over it. There is no way they can make holes in this stuff. It is heavy.

Matt showed up about 30 minutes later and he started to put up the new stronger fence around the goat area. He worked for hours but did not even get close to halfway. This fencing is heavy and a lot harder to work with. At least he was able to cover the area where the escape hole is. We were able to let the goats out in their yard to play.

David has someone coming on Monday to help Matt finish the goat fence.

Meanwhile, I worked on orders and counted and packed seeds. We had four in person sales today after having none all week long. We thought we would have a lot more considering the huge sale we have going on and the fact that it is time to plant the fall garden.

Tonight, David made some taco casserole for dinner so I did not have to make it. Before that, I did some cleaning and laundry. When Matt got here, we watched a 1980 John Ritter film that I had never seen, Hero At Large. It was fun. Svengoolie was a Frankenstein type replay. I believe we have seen all of the Frankenstein and Dracula movies there are thanks to Svengoolie. After the movie, Matt left and I fell asleep on the couch.

The sun came up as I was in front feeding the fish and Sam, the kitty. You can see our ramp and our plant area.

Good morning. I just finished eating a breakfast taco of eggs, salsa, mushrooms, and cheese that I made. Absolutely delicious. I was starving. This morning, I got up early and went out to feed and water everyone. The goats started pushing on the fence as soon as they got out of their shelter, looking for a weak spot.

By the time I got in, I was soaking wet. Humidity is at 85%. I hit the shower and then made breakfast.

David got a message early this morning that someone wanted to buy our barn shed so he went out to take more photos as requested. When the guy found out from someone else that it would cost at least $1000 just to move the shed, he decided that he would build a shed for less than $2500. Ha!

With lumber costs there is no way. This barn shed has barn doors, plus a regular door on the side. It also has a loft and built in shelving. There is no way that he can build this particular shed for $2500. It cost us a lot more than that and we added the door and shelving. It is a very nice shed and is worth more than twice what David is asking.

We got ready and went to church. I felt so tired. I fell asleep during the opening prayer and I snored once. David nudged me and the snore woke me up, too. After that, I did fall asleep three more times. I guess I need a nap. The reason I mention this is that before we even got home, David had it up on social media that I fell asleep. So there you go. At least no one made me feel bad there today.

David says he has someone else coming to look at the barn shed this afternoon.
