Brownie Pie

I love chocolate. This delicious brownie pie is really just brownies baked in a pie tin. Add nuts, sprinkles, even frosting to the top to make it extra special. My children loved this dessert with colorful sprinkles. I love it with frosting. My husband loves it with pecans on top.

Brownie Pie Ingredients

You will need:

  • An 8 inch pie pan
  • Pam or Baker's Joy cooking/baking spray
  • 2/3 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1/2 cup all purpose flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 cup firmly packed light brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/4 cup vegetable oil
  • 2 eggs
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 2 tablespoons chopped walnuts or pecans (I use pecans.)
  • Optional: sprinkles, 1/2 cup of your favorite nuts or chocolate chips, chocolate frosting  or cream cheese frosting

This brownie pie is delicious plain with nothing on top. It is also very good served warm with vanilla ice cream or whipped topping.

Brownie Pie Recipe

Preheat your over to 325° Fahrenheit. Spray an eight inch pie pan with cooking spray. The pan can be metal or glass.

In a large bowl, combine the cocoa powder, flour, and baking powder.

In a separate medium sized bowl, whisk together the brown sugar, granulated sugar, oil, eggs, and vanilla.

At this point, you can add 1/2 cup chopped nuts or chocolate chips to the batter or leave the batter plain. Most of the time, I left the brownie pie plain because one of my kids hated nuts as a child. Now he loves them. I prefer to add pecans because we live in Texas and that is what it is all about!

Add the egg mixture to the large bowl of dry ingredients. Stir until blended. Pour into prepared pie pan.

Sprinkle the top with nuts or sprinkles.

Bake until the pie is just set and a toothpick inserted in the middle of the pie comes out clean, about 25 to 30 minutes. Don't bake it too long or it will not be moist. A dried out brownie pie is totally unacceptable!

Let cool for a bit and frost if you desire. Cut into pie wedges. Place in a bowl with ice cream or plain and eat with a fork or spoon. Enjoy!

I have made this plain so many times for my three children when they were young. I have also  fancied it up for company as a dessert many times over the years with ice cream.
