Doomsday Pumpkin Seeds

There are about 30 calories in a cup of pumpkin meat. There are about 285 calories in a cup of pumpkin seeds. With the right equipment you can get oil from pumpkin seeds.

Pumpkin is a very versatile vegetable.

First of all pumpkins can last from 4 to 12 weeks, whole, without refrigeration. The colder the storage, the longer it will last. 

The seeds from pumpkins can be harvested and eaten. Seeds can all be processed for pumpkin oil, provided that you have the proper equipment to extract the oil from the pumpkin seed.

Pumpkin meat can be used to make puree. This puree can be canned and stored for up to two years, provided you have jars, lids, and some sort of pressure cooker so the jars seal properly. 

You can sun-dry the pumpkin. Make sure it is sliced thin.

Based on a 1200 calorie diet we would need 40 cups of pumpkin per day. A medium size pumpkin (4 to 6 pounds) will produce about 4 cups of puree. This is ten pumpkins a day. 

I don't know about you, but I do not want to be eating ten pumpkins a day. But this would be about 3 plants per day for puree. Let's say about 1,000 plants per year. You would need about one and a half acres for growing pumpkins for puree.

Now for pumpkin seeds on a 1200 calorie diet you would need about five cups a day for eating. At this point I will have to get a pumpkin and find out how many seeds are in it.
